WMA Water Cooling Mount (for 1.1″ Lenses)
Model WMA mount is intended to provide cooling for mounted 1.1″ diameter ZnSe lenses. The
secondary purpose is to provide an interface between 1.1″ lenses (in M11 cells) and the appropriate
In most cases the gas nozzle will be the ‘SNA’ type, described in data section 9.10.
For low gas pressure applications, and where ’11TF’ series lenses are used, the WMA provides an
interface between the mounted lens and a GNA nozzle (section 20.6).
The WMA mount also accepts, internally, the ‘IX’ range of fixed-focus beamexpanders. See section
20.0 for details.
Material : Aluminium HE30
Finish : Black anodised
Sealing : Via ‘O’ ring seals
Threads : (1) External: 1.5″ dia x 12TPI UNF 2A
(2) Internal, main: 1.5″ dia x 12TPI
(3) Internal: fitting for IX beamexpander
Max. diameter : 58.0mm
Overall length : 48.0mm
Clear aperture : 28mm dia (assumes IX not fitted)
Other dimensions : See fig. 9.601
Cooling : Via 6/4 fittings
All mechanical dimensions are toleranced to +/-0.1mm, except the mounting thread.
The mount thread is deliberately made to be a slightly loose fit into a female thread of (full) 1.5″ dia
(Users making a female thread to be a smooth or tight fit to an example WMA thread run the risk
of subsequent failure-to-fit with, eg: lens cells from other suppliers, or other ‘M11’ cells.
The WMA mount fits directly to the following products:
FF25 fine focus mechanism (section 63.1)
CFF25 coarse/fine focus mechanism (section 63.2)
The WMA accepts:
All 11MZLF lenses (section 8.10)
All 11MHGP lenses (section 8.10)
All 11TF lenses (section 20.1)
All XF15** lenses (section 20.2)
ZX10 zoom beamreducer (section 20.5)
Varax50 and Varax95 lenses (section 25)
SZL25 and GPZ25 zoom lenses (section 24)
Special-purpose lenses (section 26)
Plus (internal fitting) IX series beamexpanders (section 20.4)
The external (front) thread on the WMA mount is 1.875″ dia x 20 TPI. This thread fits to GNA nozzles
and SNA nozzles.
The SNA nozzle type is intended for general-purpose use, with a wide range of adaptors to suit
various lens focal lengths. The SNA nozzles are suitable for use up to 25 Bar gas pressure.
GNA nozzles are recommended for use in conjunction with 11TF series lenses, for gas pressures up
to 6 Bar maximum.
